Luke records that journey in connection with the appointed time for the Lord to be received up. “Now it came to pass, when the time had come for Him to be received up, that He steadfastly set His face to go to Jerusalem” (Luke 9:51). The Lord did not move without knowing what He was going to undergo. He had already told His disciples of His suffering, death, and resurrection, and now He firmly resolved to go toward Jerusalem, where He would accomplish that work of salvation.
