Looking at the word of Luke chapter 12 verses 1 through 12, I would like to examine what God is saying to us through this word and share His grace. First, let us look from chapter 11 verse 43. “Woe to you Pharisees! For you love the best seats in the synagogues and greetings in the marketplaces. Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like graves which are not seen, and the men who walk over them are not aware of them” (Luke 11:43–44). When a lawyer said that by saying these things He was insulting them too, the Lord declared woe to the lawyers as well. He said that they loaded people with burdens hard to bear while they themselves did not touch them with one finger, and that they built the tombs of the prophets while approving of the deeds of their fathers who had killed those prophets. And He said, “The blood of all the prophets which was shed from the foundation of the world may be required of this generation” (Luke 11:50), and He said, “Woe to you lawyers! For you have taken away the key of knowledge. You did not enter in yourselves, and those who were entering in you hindered” (Luke 11:52). When the Lord came out from there, the scribes and the Pharisees assailed Him vehemently and cross-examined Him about many things, and they lay in wait for Him, seeking to catch something out of His mouth.
