Because one has gained the authority to decide matters and manage goods, one tries to handle even people according to one’s own will. But the steward whom the Lord appoints is not a person who has occupied the master’s position. He is a person who has been entrusted with the work of caring for the people who belong to the master according to the master’s will. After Jesus taught them to wait for the master who will come again, He spoke of the image of this very steward.
