There are times when, after we have sincerely entertained someone, we feel hurt if there is no return of courtesy at all even after some time has passed. At first we thought we had given gladly, but in one corner of our hearts we had been waiting for the hospitality we would receive next. When that expectation grows, we come to look first for people who can do something for us rather than for people who need help. Today Jesus, speaking to the man who had set the table, makes us look back on whom we entertain and with what heart.
