Let us look at the word in Luke chapter 12 verses 49 through 59. In verse 49 the Lord said, “I came to send fire on the earth, and how I wish it were already kindled!” (Luke 12:49). What does the word that the Lord came to send fire mean? The Bible explains this part in verses 51 through 53. “Do you suppose that I came to give peace on earth? I tell you, not at all, but rather division” (Luke 12:51). It means being divided, fighting. That He came to send fire means that He came to judge those who oppose God; that is, it means that He came to bring division, to bring about fighting.
