When we think of a great kingdom, it is easy to first think of wide lands, many people, or the figure of a powerful king. But in explaining the kingdom of God, Jesus spoke of a small seed that people plant in a garden and of leaven that is put into meal. “Then He said, ‘What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it?’” (Luke 13:18). The Lord makes us, who try to judge that kingdom only by the size before our eyes, see how what began small grows and spreads. In other words, we cannot limit what God will accomplish only by how it looks at first.
